TANZANIA HIGHLIGHTS (Silver)
Overview
Itinerary
Day 1 – Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge (Lake Manyara) FB
Your day: Meet your guide in Arusha and drop down the Rift Valley to Lake Manyara. Forested tracks open to lake views; birds flash across the canopy and the escarpment rises behind you. Arrive for lunch and settle in before your first game drive.
The afternoon shows Manyara’s range: blue monkeys in the fig trees, elephants in dappled light, pelicans and—when in season—flamingos across the shallows. Picnic setups are available, with cold drinks from the car fridge. Evenings are easy at the lodge with sunset views from the ridge. Optional add-ons: treetop walkway, village and market visit in Mto wa Mbu, guided cycling.
Day 2 – Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge (Central Serengeti) FB
Your day: Drive into the Serengeti with game viewing en route as the forest gives way to open grassland and kopjes. Stop for a picnic when the view calls, ice-cold refreshments on hand from the fridge.
In the afternoon, work the Seronera river lines for leopard and hippo, scan kopjes for lions, and watch giraffes thread through acacias. Cheetahs often perch on low mounds for a better view. Settle at the lodge for dinner and a sky full of stars. Optional: book a sunrise balloon flight for tomorrow followed by a champagne bush breakfast.
Day 3 – Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge (Central Serengeti) FB
Your day: Sunrise is prime time. Roll out early for soft light and active predators, then follow the herds across the plains. Depending on season, you may see long lines of wildebeest and zebra on the move.
Lunch is a picnic in the wild with chilled drinks. In the afternoon, work different habitats—riverine trees, granite outcrops, and short-grass plains—for elephants, buffalo, jackal, hyena, and big cats. Return for dinner and a relaxed night. Optional add-ons: private bush breakfast or curated sundowners.
Day 4 – Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge (Ngorongoro Region) FB
Your day: After breakfast, travel through the highlands toward Ngorongoro with game viewing as you leave the Serengeti. The air cools, the terrain lifts, and the views widen toward the crater rim.
Arrive for lunch and take the afternoon at your own pace—walk the terrace, enjoy the hush of the highlands, and get ready for tomorrow’s crater descent. Optional: a short crater rim walk (conditions permitting).
Day 5 – Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge (Ngorongoro Region) FB
Your day: Descend into the crater for a full day on the floor—one of the best places in Africa to see wildlife in a concentrated setting. Lions, large elephant bulls, black rhino, buffalo, hyena, hippo, and brilliant birdlife gather around lakes and grasslands.
Enjoy a picnic at a designated spot with cold drinks from the vehicle fridge. Your guide balances sightings with space, so you can watch behaviour and soak in the scenery. Return to the rim in the afternoon for dinner and a quiet evening.
Day 6 – Tarangire Sopa Lodge (Tarangire National Park) FB
Your day: Head to Tarangire, a park of giant baobabs and wide river views. In the dry season, the Tarangire River pulls in large herds of elephants, along with zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, and countless antelopes.
After lunch, take an unhurried afternoon drive—look for lions in the shade, and birdlife along the water. Picnic setups with chilled drinks are available. Optional add-ons: guided nature walks just outside the park or a sundowner setup at a scenic viewpoint (where permitted).
Day 7 – End of Itinerary (Arusha) FB
Your day: Enjoy breakfast, then an easy road transfer back to Arusha, arriving around lunchtime. Trip extensions to the coast or Zanzibar can be arranged.
