Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Tanzania • Mount Meru Game Lodge B&B

Your day: Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport and meet your driver for the short, scenic transfer to Usa River. Settle into the peaceful grounds of Mount Meru Game Lodge — shaded by mango trees, overlooking a wildlife sanctuary, and offering an easy, restorative start before the climb.

Enjoy a relaxed dinner, final gear check, and early night. Tomorrow, your Kilimanjaro adventure begins.

Day 2 — Begin Lemosho Route • Mti Mkubwa Camp FB

Your day: Drive to the quiet Londorossi Gate region and complete registration before continuing deeper into the forest. Your porters move ahead, preparing camp and carrying your luggage, while you hike through towering rainforest alive with colobus monkeys, birdlife, and misty light filtering through ancient trees.

Arrive to your luxury walk-in tent — complete with raised bed, thick mattress, private toilet, hot shower system, and your own dining setup. Enjoy a warm meal prepared by your private mountain chef and begin adjusting to the mountain rhythm.

Day 3 — Shira Plateau Traverse • Shira Camp 1 FB

Your day: The forest thins and the world suddenly opens into the sprawling Shira Plateau — one of Kilimanjaro’s most dramatic landscapes. Walk through moorlands dotted with giant heather and volcanic rock formations as Kibo’s glaciered crown appears slowly ahead.

Camp is already prepared on arrival, with hot drinks, a private dining tent, and breathtaking views across the plateau. Evenings on Shira feel wild, open, and unforgettable.

Day 4 — Shira Camp 2 • High Moorland FB

Your day: Continue across the upper Shira plateau, gaining altitude gradually. Today is purposeful acclimatization — slow pace, deep breathing, long views. Expect sweeping panoramas, cooler air, and a clear sense that you are approaching Kilimanjaro’s high world.

Arrive at Shira Camp 2 for warm meals, excellent visibility, and a quiet, star-filled alpine night.

Day 5 — Lava Tower Acclimatization • Barranco Camp FB

Your day: Hike steadily upward toward the surreal Lava Tower at 4,600m — the highest point so far and an excellent acclimatization stop. Lunch is served in the shadow of the tower before descending into the Barranco Valley.

The descent helps your body adjust naturally to altitude. Barranco Camp sits beneath towering cliffs and hanging glaciers — one of Kilimanjaro’s most beautiful overnight spots.

Day 6 — Barranco Wall • Karanga Camp FB

Your day: Today begins with the iconic Barranco Wall — a fun, non-technical scramble with extraordinary views. Your guides support each step, setting a calm, confident pace toward the upper ridges.

Arrive at Karanga Camp by early afternoon for rest, acclimatization, and another hot meal in your private dining tent. This day is key to a strong summit push.

Day 7 — Barafu Base Camp • Summit Prep FB

Your day: A steady ascent leads into the high alpine desert and onward to Barafu — the base camp for your summit attempt. Temperatures drop, the air thins, and the excitement quietly builds.

Your team prepares an early dinner before you rest at sunset. At 11:00 PM, the summit push begins.

Day 8 — SUMMIT DAY • Uhuru Peak • Mweka Camp FB

Your day: Depart in darkness beneath a sky full of stars. The ascent to Stella Point is steady and determined, followed by a final push along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak — the highest point in Africa at 5,895m.

Celebrate briefly before beginning the descent back to Barafu for rest, then continue through changing landscapes to Mweka Camp for a well-earned final night on the mountain.

Day 9 — Final Descent • Return to Usa River B&B

Your day: Descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where your summit certificate awaits. After farewells and tipping, transfer back to Usa River for hot showers, soft beds, and a peaceful evening at Mount Meru Game Lodge.

Day 10 — Departure B&B

Your day: Enjoy a calm breakfast overlooking the lodge sanctuary before transferring to Kilimanjaro Airport. Continue onward to Zanzibar or begin your journey home.
